Revelation 22:3-5

Revelation 22:3-5

This aspect may remind you of Genesis 3:17-18. After the Fall, a curse was imposed, thorns and thistles began to grow. Now the curse is removed. Herein lies the great excellence of this paradise. The Devil has no place there; he cannot turn the saints away from serving God. SERVING GOD shows that the future life will not be a time of idleness or inactivity. The paradise lost in Genesis will be the Paradise recovered in Revelation.

Furthermore, they will see his face in perfect communion; and his name will be on their foreheads (v. 4). This is a sign of complete consecration to God and absolute dominion on their part.

In verse 5, we read again that THERE WILL BE NO MORE NIGHT THERE. Consequently, THEY WILL NOT NEED A LAMP, nor even the LIGHT OF THE SUN; FOR THE LORD GOD GIVES THEM ILLUMINATIONS — all the light we see comes from him — AND THEY WILL REIGN FOREVER AND EVER. This is not just for the thousand years of the Millennial Kingdom. We have moved from finite time to eternity. Here all things last forever.
